Using discretion and judgment, design, develop, maintain and administer Websphere MQ and Websphere MQ Integrator (MQSI) Messaging environment

Principal Responsibilities:
1. Design, develop, maintain and administer  Websphere MQ and Websphere MQ Integrator (MQSI) messaging environment
2. Provides administration support, monitoring of IBM Websphere MQ environment (UNIX platform experience a plus)
3. Assists in creating technical specifications and support documentation.
4. Responsible for overall day-to-day hands on support of existing infrastructure as well as new projects
5. Troubleshoot incidents affecting the operation/availability of high profile production systems
6. Analyze server performance indicators and recommend improvement actions
7. Perform major upgrades of MQ and MQSI
8. Monitor vendors release notes and plan necessary upgrades and patches as required
9. Should have experience with Websphere MQ, Websphere MQ Integrator. Websphere Application Server and Java a plus.
10. Carry out acceptance QA checking on newly implemented systems and verify they are fit for production operation
11. Interface with project implementation teams to determine/clarify technical requirements
12. Acts as a consultant to others within the department to share information and advise other development and infrastructure efforts
13. Works with managers/business analysts to define system needs and design
14. Performs additional related responsibilities as necessary.

Job Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
2. Higher Level Qualification in a technical subject is desirable
3. Four years experience in maintaining and supporting servers, server software and messaging systems
4. Strong troubleshooting skills required. Experience gained in production support of diverse environments preferred
5. Ability to research and learn new tools and environments required.
6. Operating experience of server environments (SuSE, AIX) preferred
7. Experience with MQ and MQSI is helpful.
8. Strong scripting skills (Perl, Python, Bash) preferred
9. Ability to be on call in support of production cycles
10. Strong analytical, planning and estimating skills required
11. Experience in planning and implementation of dev, staging, prod and DR environments
12. Knowledge of best practices including security, performance, standards, procedures, controls, and technical design and architecture
13. Knowledge of Maestro scheduler, Oracle RDBMS helpful
14. The ideal candidate would have strong interpersonal skills to work with clients, vendors and peers, and the ability to work both independently and with a team
